Structure of the Examinations, Pathway to membership and further study
The examinations have a modular structure with three levels. There is one examinations paper per module:
Certificate:- Three compulsory modules, each paper of two hour's duraton.
Diploma Examination: One compulsory core module and three modules chosen from a list of options, each paper of two hour's duration.
Diploma Project:- the Diploma Project is normally only undertaken by candidates who wish to finish their studies at Diploma level.
Professional Graduate Diploma Examination: Four modules chosen from a list of options, each paper of three hour's duration. alternatively, a dissertation may be offered.
Professional Graduate Diploma Project:- The Professional Graduate Diploma Porject will need to be taken in order to achieve the maximum academic points towards membership and if the candidate plans to undertake a further course of related study at university. Candidates who wish to take the Professional Graduate diploma by dissertation will not be required to pass a Professional Project as the BCS deems the Professional Graduate Diploma by dissertation is examined to the academic level of a masters (MSc) degree dissertation. |
