BSc (Hons) Computer Information Systems

BSc (Hons) Computer Information Systems (CIS)
BSc (Hons) Computer Information Management (CIM)

London Academy for Higher Education provides tutor support for students wishing to pursue Bachelors degree in Information Systems & Management from University of London (External Programme).

The study of information systems relates to how organisations and societies use and exploit new information and communication technologies (ICT). Emphasis is on the organisational and social aspects of the efforts organisations make in order to accommodate ICT, change their practices, and achieve benefits

Who should apply?

This degree is likely to give graduates a distinct advantage within all kinds of public and private organisations. It is especially useful if you want to work for any of the software houses or in systems management, successful graduates could also consider a career in management consultancy specialising in IT and IS.

You will be required to make a serious attempt in all 12 units of the examination.

You can take the Foundation and Further units in any order, provided you satisfy any prerequisites (units which you must have already passed). Most students, however, would normally take the Foundation units first because (as their name suggests) they are the ‘building blocks’ – the foundation – for the units that follow. Prerequisites are listed at the beginning of the appropriate syllabuses.

FOUNDATION UNITS

1 Introduction to Sociology
2 Introduction to Information Systems
3 Introduction to Business and Management
4 Introduction to Economics

FURTHER UNITS

5 Organisation Theory
6 Software Engineering
7 Information Systems Development & Management
8 Elements of Information & Communication Technologies
