Employee Relations: Guide To Conflict Resolution
This course is for Senior Managers and Above
Aim of Course: At the end of the programme participants should be able to:
- Promote and develop a pro-active conflict resolution philosophy;
- Facilitate informal resolution of conflicts;
- Facilitate meaningful discussions between and among aggrieved parties;
- Devise positive approaches to informal problem solving;
- Provide relevant information regarding available options in conflict resolutions.
Course Content:
• Problem Solving Guidelines:
- attack the problem, not the person;
- be clear about how you judge and re act to people and situations;
- look forward not backward;
- verbalise your feelings appropriately;
- more from justification to resolution;
- be open and positive;
- view from all sides.
• Conflict Resolution skills
- to communicate effectively;
- to listen carefully;
- to inmate discussion
- to learn fast and use what is learned
• Mediation in Conflict
- content of discussion must not be disclosed to external party and
- strictly confidential
• Informal Conflict Resolution
- avoid retaliation;
- act fast to avoid degeneration of conflict;
- make room for open discussion of dispute;
- articulate interest and possible remedies;
- assist in clarifying the issues that created the conflict/concern;
- provide policy/procedural information;
- provide information about available options.
Method of Studies:
Lectures, group discussions and case studies.
Duration: Two (2) weeks
