IATA Fare and Ticketing Syllabus
Level 1
A thorough introduction to the practical skills involved in planning, quoting and booking flights covering:
1. Interpretation of all types of tickets, from e-tickets to ATBs to Manual
2. Defining IATA Geographic Areas, Global Indicators and the Airline Coding system
3. Identifying the lowest applicable fare from the full range of airfares
4. Constructing fares in NUCs, using the fundamental principles of the Mileage System.
Level 2
More advanced skills in fares & ticketing practice, providing training in the planning and booking of more complex travel arrangements, including:
1. Pricing Unit principles, including One Way & Return Sub-Journey Checks
2. Calculating fares applying HIPs, CTM Check and Backhaul Check, including exceptions and Secondary Levels
3. Constructing Special/ Normal fares with Surface Sectors, Normal Open Jaws, Side Trips and Stopover Charges
4. Assessing multi-sector fares for itineraries containing Mixed Classes
